# How much does Amazon Flex pay in 2026?

**Amazon says most Flex delivery partners earn $18 to $25 per hour, and it guarantees at least $15 to $19 per scheduled hour depending on location and demand.** You see the pay for a block before you accept it, and you earn that amount whether the block ends early or late. Tip-eligible grocery and Amazon Now offers add customer tips on top. Gas, wear and taxes come out of your pocket, so your real hourly pay is lower than the offer.

## How Flex pay is built

Flex pays by the **block**, not by the package. Each offer shows a start time, a length and a price. Per Amazon's FAQ:

- **Guaranteed contribution:** Amazon will always contribute at least **$15 to $19 per scheduled hour**, depending on your location and demand.
- **Advertised range:** "most delivery partners earn $18-$25 per hour."
- **Early or late finish:** you earn what the offer showed, whether the block ends early or late. A 4-hour block finished in 3 hours pays the same.
- **Surges:** during high demand, Amazon's contribution may increase. Higher-priced offers usually appear close to the start time; drivers commonly report them on bad-weather days and peak season.
- **Tips:** on tip-eligible offers you see an earnings range (for example "$36-50" for a 2-hour block) or, in some cities, "$XX + tips". You keep 100% of tips.

**Go deeper.** Chapter 1 of the Amazon Flex Driver Playbook covers block pay, tip ranges, surges and payment options in full, and Chapter 3 turns them into a dollars-per-hour and dollars-per-mile test for any offer.

## Block types and typical lengths

| Delivery type | Pickup | Typical block | Tips |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Amazon standard (logistics)** | Amazon delivery station | 1–6 h | Usually none |
| **Grocery** | Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, other grocers | 2–4 h | Tip-eligible orders common |
| **Amazon Now** | Small urban pickup locations (select cities) | under 1 h | Tip-eligible |
| **Instant offers** | Nearby participating location | about 1.5 h on average | Depends on the order |

Block lengths are from Amazon's delivery-types page and FAQ; what is offered varies by market.

## Gross is not what you keep (illustrative)

Flex does not reimburse mileage, parking or tolls. Here is one illustrative 4-hour logistics block:

| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| Block pay shown on the offer (4 h × $18) | $72.00 |
| 60 miles × 35¢ own cost per mile (gas, tires, maintenance; your number will differ) | −$21.00 |
| **Left before tax** | $51.00 |
| Per scheduled hour | $12.75 |
| Per real hour if you finish in 3 h | $17.00 |

Self-employment and income tax come on top, but the mileage deduction (72.5¢/mile January–June 2026 and 76¢/mile July–December 2026) usually cuts the taxable profit sharply; see [Amazon Flex taxes](https://gigearningsguide.com/guides/amazon-flex-taxes.html). ## California: Prop 22 applies to Flex

Amazon's own California page says Flex delivery partners there are covered by Prop 22 (the Protect App-Based Drivers and Services Act). In 2026 that means:

- **Pre-tip earnings of at least 120% of the local minimum wage** for engaged time (statewide minimum $16.90, so at least $20.28/hour where no higher local wage applies).
- **$0.37 per engaged mile** vehicle expense payment in 2026.
- Any shortfall over a 14-day period is paid automatically, per Amazon.
- A quarterly healthcare subsidy if you average 15+ hours a week ($867 for 15–25 hours, $1,737 for 25+ hours in 2026, per Amazon), and occupational accident insurance.

More on how Prop 22 math works is in [our Prop 22 guide](https://gigearningsguide.com/guides/prop-22-instacart-pay.html). Seattle also has an app-based worker minimum pay ordinance; check with the Seattle Office of Labor Standards how it applies to your offers.

## When you get paid

- You choose which weekday or weekdays you get paid. Blocks completed Sunday to Thursday are paid on your next payment day; Friday and Saturday blocks on Monday or your next chosen day.
- Tip-eligible blocks are paid 2 to 3 days after completion, because tips are added first.
- Instant Pay (Amazon Flex Debit Card holders) and Cashout are available; Cashout to a bank is free for same or next business day, and Amazon lists a 50¢ fee for some faster or debit-card transfers.

## Watch: what Flex paid per hour and per block in 2025 data

Gridwise, a mileage and earnings tracking app, walks through Flex block pay using what it describes as real 2025 earnings from more than 500,000 drivers. It reports a median of **$20.89 an hour and $83.14 per block**, a median tip of $0 per block, and explains how surge blocks and finishing early raise the hourly figure. These are Gridwise's figures, not Amazon's, and they are before your vehicle costs.
